Breast lift/implants and weight loss - will loosing 5 - 7 pounds after my surgery affect my results?

Question

I am having a revision due to capsular contracture in 2 weeks. It will include a full lift and slightly larger implants (I currently have 275 in each and am looking at 325-350). I have recently been unable to exercise due to minor injuries/back and hip pain and have gained about 5-7 pounds. Will losing these 5-7 pounds post surgery negatively affect my breast results? Should I wait to have the procedure until I’ve lost this extra weight?

any major weight loss or gain can affect your surgery results. Generally speaking, you want to reach your goal weight before you consider a surgery, otherwise your results will be suboptimal if you continue to lose weight after the surgery.

The best time to consider surgery is when you have reached a stable healthy weight (preferably with a BMI less than 30).

5-7 lbs post operatively is unlikely to have a dramatic effect on your results. That being said, it is always wiser to come into surgery optimized.

As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).

This depends on factors such as your overall weight and whether you tend to store fat in the breast area. Based on my experience with the patient population I serve, a change of 5 to 7 pounds is generally not considered substantial.
