While you cannot completely eliminate a scar after mole removal, most become nearly invisible over time. Full healing can take many weeks, with additional time for the pigment from the mole to blend in with the rest of your skin color. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your scar six months from now, I would schedule an appointment with a board-certified dermatologist to see what else can be done to improve the look.
Thank you for your question and photographs. Mole removals can take 2 weeks to fully heal and it can take up to 4-6 weeks for the pigmentation changes to blend in to the skin. Redness is expected immediately after a well as scabbing and indentations. The skin will improve over time and slowly blend in, but remember you'll always have a small mark where the mole used to be. Discuss with your doctor any silicone based creams or gels to help the healing process and prevent the area from scarring, always use sunscreen daily to prevent pigmentation changes. I hope this helps.Regards,Sheetal Sapra, MD, FRCPC
