Spitting out blood after septoplasty?

13 days ago I had Septoplasty.I can breath much better now. What im worried about I'm still having dark red, really thick mucus (almost looks like membrane) coming through mouth every morning upon waking up. In the day time I'm spitting out small amounts of blood mixed with mucus almost every time I spit. Is that normal and if there is something I should do about that or it is something I should be worried about?

Through an open approach, swelling will result both inside the nose and outside the nose. Typically you will see an improvement in your breathing in 3-4 weeks. The swelling of the outside of your nose, especially the tip, may take much longer. Follow up closely with your surgeon to ensure you...

Thanks for the question. 6 weeks is too short a period to say the Septoplasty has failed. The lining of the nose can remain swollen for several months after this procedure. 3 months is a better period. I hope this helps

It is not abnormal to still have some tenderness two months after surgery. Each patient has their own individual circumstances, and I would recommend following up with your surgeon so he or she may ensure you are healing properly. I hope this helps, and I wish you the best of luck.
