I am in a good health but I went to two doctors and one said that I am able to get the surgery and that the injury won't affect me. The other doctor said the anesthesia was bad for spinal cord injury patients. I am now confused on who is right.
Answer: Breast augmentation I agree you should be able to get implants, but both the surgeon and anesthesiologist need to find out more about your injury. Do you have paralysis? Is your injury stable? Have you had surgery for it? There are many unknown in your question but probably are issues which can be dealt with safely in proceeding with breast augmentation.

Answer: Neck injury and breasts augmentation Dear confused, It is not unusual to get different opinions from different doctors. The main concern would be hyper extension of the neck in case that you need to be intubated for general anesthesia. Today with LMA ( laryngeal mask anesthesia ) or video guided intubation , that issue should not be a problem. Having said that, since it is a purely elective surgery, you should get clearance for surgery from your neurologist and your plastic surgeon should discuss it with a board certified anesthesiologist and have his input and proper preparation. Always, consult with board certified plastic surgeons who operates in accredited surgery center. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Breast augmenttion with cervical spine problems It is likely that you will do fine with the surgery as long as your issues are taken into consideration. I usually do the procedure under sedation with local so there is no need to manipulate your spine. Be careful about going too big because the added weight on your chest could exacerbate your neck issues. Seek aout a surgeon with experience in this area.

Answer: Breast augmentation with a spinal cord injury The primary concern with surgery in the face of a spinal cord injury would all things being considered is the safety of your anesthetic. You need to see a board-certified plastic surgeon but as important be cared for either under a local anesthetic or a board-certified anesthesiologist. I would concur you would need clearance from your neurologist/neurosurgeon as well.I wish you well.Dr Edwardas
