Can your smile be permanently affected after one session of botox? 3 months post, 20 units injected.

Question

I got 10 units of botox per eye for crows feet (20 total) 3 months ago. I hated it. has not worn off. My first time trying it and my laugh lines at the corners of my eyes have not returned. My muscles have overcompensated by creasing under the eye and giving me a more round eye shape. Is it possible for the way of smiling to change permanently after a single session of botox ? I am so depressed about this and it has affected also my emotional experiences. Is this permanent ??

Hello,Thank you for your question. Botox will wear off after about 3 months and your laugh lines will return. It is not possible to permanently alter your smile after a single session of Botox. Make sure to always consult with an MD or RN for your injections. Good luck with your beauty journey!

I'm sorry you are unhappy with your Botox treatment.  Botox effects are not permanent.  You will return to your pre-treatment state approximately 3 to 4 months after treatment.  The product effects will wear off gradually during this time.

Botox should not cause permanent damage to the area.  It is more likely that the botox has not worn off yet.  For most patients botox will last 3-4 months but there are patients where it lasts longer-in some cases 6-9 months.  I would suggest you give in more time to wear off.  Placement of the product may be what caused the problems you are experiencing.  You should talk to your injector about your issues or seek out a more experienced injector if indicated.

Good morning! I am so sorry for your bad experience with Botox. Having this type of reaction is luckily very rare and most definitely NOT permanent. The effects of Botox typically last anywhere from 3-6 months, with the average lasting 3-4 months. You should start to notice the effects wearing off very soon, and your muscle movement, and smile, returning to its previous state. Have a great day!

You smile will return to its normal pretreatment state as soon as the Botox has worn off. In certain patients, the treatment results will last longer, possibly 3-6 months. Just give the treatment some more time to wear off and your normal smile will return.

As for the undereye wrinkles, these can be worsened by the lateral Botox injections but this can be corrected by injecting a tiny about of Botox or Dysport underneath the eye.

hello,do not worry but try to give it a bit more time! botulinum toxin works by attaching permanently to specific nerve endings in the treated area. HOWEVER, the toxin’s muscle-relaxing effect only last 3-6 months because that’s how long it takes for our nerves to regenerate. so, again, do not worry, you will soon look exactly how you did prior to the treatment.

No worries one session of botox will not cayse permanent changes. Depending on the concentration of the Botox used and how your body metabolizes it the changes can last up to six months, but they will eventually return to your baseline.

Hi there! It would be very unusual for Botox to have a permanent effect on the tissues. At 3 months, there's still time for it to wear off. I have some patients that last 5-6 months before needing another appointment. The average is 3-4 months, but that's all it is - an average. I would give it more time and see how it goes.
