Can this 15lb weight gain after my Tumescent Liposuction 4 months ago be body fluid? (photos)

Question

I had tumescent liposuction 4 months ago. I still am wearing bellybraces, have been getting regular massages the first 3 months. I gained a lot of weight (appr. 15 pounds). This is not because of too much to drink or eat. I walk everyday 1 hour. My size is bigger then before. Plastic surgeon says I have bad luck and it will take up to a year before my belly is tight. What is this? Can this be body fluid as the docter says?. Stripes on side on picture are from brace btw so not from operation.

No, your weight gain is fat and not fluid. You may have some mild swelling still, but not 15 pounds of swelling. You have gained weight.

At four months post op any weight gain from surgery should have been resolved long ago.  It appears from the photos that visceral fat, or fat around the organs, is what is contributing to the appearance of your abdomen.  This can only be addressed through weight loss from diet and exercise.

At four months your results are final and are not going to change from waiting any longer.

If you’re up and wait it’s because you’ve gained weight. Most patients gain some weight after liposuction unless they purposely lose weight.

The brain will be stimulated from the surgical fat removal and people will naturally start eating more.

Unless someone purposely lose this weight they typically come back at the same weight after liposuction though it’s not uncommon to see people having gained weight as well.

Based on your pictures you appear overweight and have access visceral fat.

I suggest focusing exclusively on weight loss.

This is typically done by modifying food consumption.
