Is it normal to have cheekbone pain after double eyelid surgery? 2 weeks post op.

Question

I had a non-incision double eyelid surgery 2 weeks ago and the area below my eyes (closer to the nose) will hurt whenever i apply a bit of pressure when cleaning my face. Is this normal? How long will it take for the pain to disappear?

Dear xalicex(Singapore, SG),Thank you for your question. It is not common to have pain over the cheekbone below the eyes after suture blepharoplasty unless there was some treatment done to your lower eyelid area e.g. filler or fat grafts to this area. And even if that was so, it would not be painful after 2 weeks. If the pain persists, do check in with your doctor.

It is not common to have pain after non incision upper eyelid surgery but I have seen a couple of patients during my practice years. It usually subsides within 4 weeks and I believe it is due to non visible bruise. I believe you can have this problem resolved quicker by warm compress.

In my opinion, this is an unlikely area to have pain after non-incision double eyelid surgery. I recommend you see the surgeon who performed the procedure and have him evaluate you.
