I'm 26, asian, and have never gotten eyelid surgery before, but I'm not satisfied with the size and slant of my eyes. I would like to get epicanthoplasty to open the inner corners of my eyes, as well as double eyelid surgery to make them larger. If I also do lateral canthoplasty will that make my slant more horizontal like that of western people? My ideal is to have eyes similar to Angela Baby or Dawn Yang as they both had double eyelids before surgery.
Answer: Angela Baby eye? First of all your eyes look too round. This occurs here because your eye's vertical measurement is much larger than the horizontal one. I believe this imbalance can be improved by medial epicanthoplasty. The procedure will allow you to choose from either a tapered or parallel crease; you will most likely benefit more from the latter option. If you widen the crease on the inner half and maintain the outer crease's current size, you eyes will appear more balanced. Yet, I caution you to not get too big of crease, since this will only make your eyes seem even rounder. Regards, Dr. Andrew Choi

Answer: Medial epicanthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty Hello! You have round shaped eyes and would like them to be more almond shaped like the celebrities in the photos. Medial epicanthoplasty would make the biggest difference in your case, and lateral canthoplasty would elongate your eyes further but the result would be more subtle. Please consult with board-certified plastic surgeons who are familiar with such adjunctive eyelid procedures. Good luck!

Answer: More almond shaped eyes Raising the lower eyelids will give more almond shaped eyes rather than rounded eyes. It is important to note that is NOT just canthoplasty.

Answer: Medial and lateral epicanthoplasty, double eyelid You have pre-existing double eyelids, but you have some weakness in the muscle that opens the eyelid, as evidenced by your need to raise your brow and the downward slant of your eyelashes. Correction of this condition (ptosis) will relax you forehead and give you a more rested and less surprised appearance, as well as increasing the vertical dimension of your eye. A medial epicanthoplasty will also increase the visibility of the whites of your eye. A lateral canthoplasty works best on patients with a significant upward tilt to the eyes, which I do not observe in your case, so I would not recommend it.

Answer: Canthoplasty? Do I need it? Asian eyelid surgery Morning, I think at your young age the lateral canthoplasty will have little to no effect on your outcome. However, for the medial aspect you could do a release-and-swing canthoplasty while extending your tapered crease to be a subtle parallel or open-tapered crease to give the eyes a more open and elliptical look. Ptosis correction might be in order for you as well. All that being said, be careful how "big" you make your crease because your eyes will look more round, not less.Chase Lay MDAsian eyelid surgery expert
