Is it advisable to go braless after breast augmentation? 1 week post-op.

Thank you aloe78 for your question.  I would recommend you follow your Plastic Surgeons protocol. Typically we like patients in the sports bra to bring down swelling faster.  I would also recommend no underwire for about 6-8 weeks.  Best of luck to you.

Unknown to many patients, post-operative care is equally important and it’s is most advisable to follow the advice of your surgeon. 
Depending on the type of implants used and the position of the implant on the chest wall, your surgeon may recommend you to go braless or with a breast band. The surgical bra and breast band are prescribed to help reduce swelling, risks of bleeding and also for comfort. Some patients develop a rash between the strap and the skin. Use of a gauze or dressing material to line it can help. The other common problem is with the sizing of the garments. If in doubt it’s always good to check back with your surgeon on his nurses.

You should follow the advice of your surgeon.  I would certainly recommend wearing some type of compression.  Perhaps your sports bra is too tight? Have a shop around for something more comfortable.  Wearing nothing is likely to pro;ong your recovery, rather than allow them to drop "faster".

Congratulations on your breast augmentation. It is very important that you follow the specific advice that your operating surgeon has given you. Online consultants are not aware of the exact nature of the operation that was done and cannot advise you properly.That said, my practice, patients who have a proper postoperative result with proper implant position are allowed to go bra less after the first 2 weeks if comfortable.
