Are Silicone Injections Detectable in X Rays?

Removing of silicone from the face

X rays are not the first line diagnostic test for patients with silicone injections. Our office specializes in silicone removal from the face and body. An examination is usually the first step in identifying silicone that can be removed.

Silicone is not visible on x-ray

Silicone does not reflect x rays. If calcium gets deposited around injected silicone, then the calcium will be seen, but the silicone again will not.
