Hi, I had veneers and crowns placed on my 12 bottom teeth. I didn’t have the chance to really look at them before they were cemented and the day after I saw that the bottom teeth go up in a diagonal so my left teeth are shorter then my right (especially the canine and the teeth beside her). The question is can my doctor just shorten those teeth a little so they are similar in hight to the teeth on the other side and so my teeth won’t look so lopsided? canine by about a 1 mm and the others by 0.5
Answer: Adjusting Dental Veneers and Crowns: Possibilities and Limitations It's understandable that you're concerned about the alignment and appearance of your veneers and crowns, especially since they are a significant investment in your smile. In cases where there's a noticeable discrepancy in the height of your veneers or crowns, some adjustments can often be made. Your dentist can usually recontour or reshape the dental restorations to a certain extent to achieve better symmetry. However, there are limitations to how much material can be removed without compromising the strength and integrity of the veneers or crowns.Reducing the height of a veneer or crown by 1 mm or 0.5 mm, as you've described, might be feasible, but it greatly depends on the thickness of the material and the underlying tooth structure. It's important to note that any modification should be done cautiously to avoid exposing the underlying tooth or affecting the bite.Your first step should be to discuss your concerns openly with your dentist. They can assess the situation and determine if reshaping is a viable option. If the veneers or crowns are significantly misaligned or if the adjustment needed is beyond what can be safely done, they might suggest other corrective measures.Remember, it's crucial to address any bite issues or discomfort resulting from the misalignment. Also, always seek the opinion of a qualified dental professional before making decisions about altering dental work.

Answer: Exploring Veneer Adjustments for Improved Symmetry Whether veneers can be shortened to address lopsidedness depends on the specific situation and the extent of the issue. Generally, minor adjustments can be made to veneers, including slight reshaping or trimming, to improve symmetry and correct minor irregularities. However, significant changes might not be possible through this method alone. It's essential to consult with us at S&C Dental so we can assess your veneers and determine the best course of action. They'll evaluate the condition of your veneers, your overall oral health, and the extent of the lopsidedness to recommend suitable solutions. In some cases, additional veneers or alternative treatments might be suggested for a more effective correction.

Answer: Veneers can be adjusted after cementation Minimal adjustments can be made to veneers after cementation. In my office we always insist on a two week follow up appointment. At this time we evaluate any minor adjustments that could be made. Sometimes there are facial asymmetries that cannot be fully corrected because of the underlying jaw structure. It sounds like you have a clear understanding of what you would like to see, so this will be helpful in communicating to your dentist. They will likely be able to make minor adjustments to help you enhance your beautiful teeth.
