I'm 51 years old. I had a root canal done 20+ years ago on canine #22. During a recent dentist visit, an x-ray showed what appears to be an infection under the tooth. Dentist is proposing extraction and installing an implant. It's gonna be about $9000 by his estimate, so I'd like a second opinion. Can the infection be treated without extraction? I have some crowding in the neighboring teeth, so can I get a new alignment to fill the space instead? I have a picture.
