Is PicoSure really better than Q-switch Yag laser? Post Q-switch.

Question

After having two sessions with Q switched laser to remove my black tattoo, I was super excited to try PicoSure as I thought it would be much quicker and I would see better results. It turned out that I spent twice as much money but my progress was better and more visible with Q switched yag laser. How is that possible?

Thanks for your question, but how much time are you waiting between treatments?  We've been doing PicoSure Laser tattoo removal for 3 and half years.  Patience is the MOST important variable in tattoo removal.  Lasers don't melt the ink away.  It breaks up the ink into smaller particles so your body can eliminate them faster.  We have new patients wait at least 3 months between treatment.  After 2-3, we recommend that they wait up to 6 months between treatments.  We make less money, but we have extremely happy tattoo removal patients.  We have competitors treating every 4 weeks.  That's a waste of money and just subjects the patients to collateral damage.  Stick with the PicoSure and wait to get another treatment.  Best of luck.

Yes, for the first 3 treatments it is better than most QSL in the nano. Depends on many factors including the depth and density of tattoo ink. Its great for greens. After the 2nd to 4th laser session it runs out of power (actually the PD is too long). We then go back to nano lasers. Cynosure should do constant upgrades on their decides. Still love my Picosure for skin rejuvenation, but for tattoos - its UNDERPOWERED. Dr Davin Lim, Key Advisor Cynosure.
