I'm interested in getting liposuction on my calves/ankles but I'm not sure if it will help since I have not just fat but also big bones. my Q is will it make a difference in appearance even if I have big bones. All other girls even bigger girls seem to have smaller legs than me. I have a flat stomach and almost not fat their, dieting and working out does not help.. Can I get lipo when I am awake w/ no pain? what is this called? & where in Orange County, CA can I get lipo and how much will it be?
Answer: Liposuction of the Lower Legs Seek a formal evaluation, you appear to be a good candidate for liposuction if performed by someone with experience and who uses small cannula contouring techniques. I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Cankle liposuction makes such a big improvement in most patients. Liposuction of the calves and ankles (like lipo anywhere on the body) should only be done under local anesthesia with the microcanulas to get the best results. You need to be stood up and put in different positions to fine tune the areas. Only the tiny cannulas can get into the hidden fat pockets and the smaller the instrument, the smoother the results. Cost is roughly $4500 on special or $5500 on special with the knees done as well which I would recommend in your case. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD

Answer: Calf and ankle liposuction. Would I see much difference? Shaping the ankles and calves with liposuction is very rewarding and can change an amorphous looking leg into a shapely leg. This area is best done by a board certified plastic surgeon with a good knowledge of the anatomy and expertise in this area. This anatomic area is unforgiving if it is done the wrong way. The surgeon needs to address the legs and ankles circumferentially. I prefer to do this surgery under intravenous sedation or local anesthesia with small microcannula. The recovery is prolonged and you must wear compression stockings at least up to six weeks. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation/evaluation. Good luck.

Answer: Calf and ankle liposuction Thank you for the photos. It is hard to see the issue you are concerned about however. Calf liposuction can be performed to recontour your legs but there does have to be enough fat in the area to make a difference. The only way to determine this is with an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon. You may want to target your calves to give them more definition if you want to try the nonsurgical route. Calf raises with light weights, jumping and skipping can all help along with a balanced diet. Best of luck.
