My seem wants to use ktp. I am afraid of scarring even though I am Caucasian. Not sure if I need to be afraid. But, this is the only laser the derm has. Not sure if it is really the right one or just the only one available to her.
Answer: Sebaceous gland hyperplasia I like the CO2 laser for this. You can core out the glands, and get a small scab for a few days. When it heals looks good with no change in the pigment.

Answer: Recommend doing CO2 laser to minimize appearance Fractional laser is an amazing and highly effective treatment in our office. We use the laser treatment to help with acne scars, large pores, fine wrinkles, tissue collagen loss, scars, sebaceous hyperplasia, active acne, and for brightening dark pigmentation. Although there are very strong fractional lasers such as CO2 laser, we use lighter treatments for corrective skincare and maintenance of results. Our Thulium fractional laser, clear and brilliant laser, and Ultra Thulium laser are excellent options in our clinic. We also perform CO2 fractional and erbium depending on skin tone and tolerance for downtime. Patients do have to use a Melarase cream before and after treatment to help further reduce pigmentation after laser. Dark spots can improve with these treatments. I recommend fractional laser for incisional scars as well, especially after plastic surgery. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: KTP is not the right choice KTP is a wavelength that targets blood and pigment. Therefore it is unlikely to have any real effect on the bumps. At the same time, you are not likely to have any ill effects from the KTP. When approaching seb hyp, the approach most commonly used is a destructive one. Many derms will melt them with electrocauttery which can leave a white mark behind. I like to use an erbium laser to remove them. This has less heat and is therefore more safe for the pigment making cells and less likely to leave a mark behind. There is healing time involved in this process and a pink spot for a few weeks but they usually do quite well.

Answer: KTP, CO2, erbium, or even hyfrection One of the most basic things to remove. This can be achieved with many devices, including the simple pin point hyfrectator, however the KTP is very effective as well. CO2 and erbium lasers are over kills for such a simple lesion, but can be used effectively. Dr Davin Lim
