Can I get Ellacor if I once had shingles (herpes zoster)?

If you have an active infection then obviously Ellacor is contraindicated. For older scars from prior viral issues/scars I think it would be safe. With laser patients in our practice we use prophylactic anti-viral medications as a pretreatment and that may be a good idea. Regarding forehead scars, obviously at this time it would be "off label" but if your provider is comfortable, or has personal experience, then I think it would be ok. Best Wishes!!

If you have an active outbreak in the treatment area, you would likely be advised to wait until it has passed. What you’re reading about is due to Ellacor, like all cosmetic treatments (even injectables), having the potential to aggravate the herpes simplex virus and cause an outbreak. At my practice, we preventatively prescribe Valtrex for our patients who have a history of cold sores (herpes simplex). In the last 9 or 10 months, we have not had any Ellacor patients experience an outbreak. Hope this helps!
