Swelling and scabs after Cutera Excel V face treatment. What can I do help to reduce the swelling?

I had a Cutera Excel V laser treatment for spider veins and redness on my cheek and chin. I did the treatment on Tuesday, today Thursday my eyes were closed shut when I woke up. My face is so tight and swollen :-( I called my doctor yesterday and he prescribed me Prednisone 20mg. are the red scabs will go away soon? Help!!!

Cold compress will help with the swelling. Do not pick at the scabs, your skin needs time to heal. Scabs are not always common with the Excel V. Avoid direct sun exposure while it heals, and if the swelling gets worse contact your physician.

Swelling is a common side effect of this laser. It can be improved with elevated your head with 3 pillow. Sometimes a steroid shot is used. Scabs are not common and need attention. Steroid creams, retin A, and hydroquionone might all be needed to treat these. Also, Biafine is a good choice for improving healing is there is a wound.

I am sorry I just saw this question so its a lot late but Im sure you will need another treatment so here goes. I use the excel v and love the outcome. Some swell some don't. Cool compresses immediately after the laser help, NO SUN for 2 weeks before and after, after treatment more cool compresses, ice packs, advil etc if its okay, If your are swelling to the point of eye closure your doctor can Rx a medal steroid dose pack. I find one dose of the first row is all that is required.
