Is there any OTC pain medication I can take two days after excel v laser treatment?

I had my entire face done with the excel v laser two days ago. I had significant swelling yesterday but I would say has gone down by about 50% today. However, I have sinus issues and am having horrible headaches. I was told not to take any pain medications for two weeks. Is there anything over the counter I can take that won't cause the swelling to return, or is that even the concern with taking them after this treatment? Thank you!

Slight reddening and swelling of the skin are the most commonly noticed side effects of an Excel V treatment. Contact your physician or the Excel V provider to see what OTC they might recommend. Cold compress will help the swelling, and odds are all other pain will cease very soon.

I think any OTC medication is fine but to follow your doctor's advice, Tylenol is probably definitely ok. The concern is that anti-inflammatory medications can lessen your final results. I believe that this is more theoretical than proven.

It sounds to me like you had a combination treatment mixing the 532 laser with the genesisV. I actually prefer that procedure. The swelling can vary most cases are gone by day 4 which is where it seems you are heading since its last better already. I do not have patients requiring pain meds mostly something for the swelling. I recommend ice packs, non steroidal like advil unless contraindicated even a dose of medal if the swelling is bothersome esp around the eyes. Speak to you doctor about what you can take for this. If you do nothing it will likely be gone in a day or so
