Is an indent something to be concerned about 18 days post reduction? (Photos)

Dear RiH93,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a breast reduction surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process at 18 days  post op.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD

It is difficult to tell with your photographs what is exactly causing the indent you note.  It is common at this stage in the recovery process to have fluctuations in swelling that can cause some contour changes.  Typically these resolve with time.  If this does not resolve, I recommend you contact your surgeon for further evaluation. 

It's very normal to look very, very closely at your results, but try not to worry over little lumps and bumps at this time. It's still very early in your recovery - too early to evaluate your "after" appearance. That won't come until about 6 months after surgery. Your scars actually continue remodeling for a full year after surgery. Most of what can be felt at this time is what your surgeon said - resolving blood and fluids, bruising, fat necrosis, and scar tissue. All of these resolve with time and a little massage when the time is right. Be sure to follow the directions of your board certified plastic surgeon for the best results. Congratulations!
