Why do I feel something poking me inside my breast right beneath my scar?

I am 8 weeks post op and have finally healed pretty nicely but now if I run my finger along my scar under my right breast or massage it I feel a sharp pain and I can feel something sticking/poking me inside of my breast. I’m thinking it may be suture but I’m not sure. I would have thought it would’ve resolved already.

The surgeon who performed your surgery would be your best source of information  since he/she knows exactly what was, Generally speaking, a lot of us use long absorbing deep sutures so it is certainly plausible, that even at 8 weeks, this could be a palpable suture or some scar tissue that has developed around it. Often scar tissue can irritate nerves and cause some pain.

Scar management, including massage and silicone based treatment, usually is enough to soften the scar tissue, dissolve any remaining sutures, and improve your discomfort in that region.

Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Based on your description, you may have a suture under your skin that is producing your symptoms. Typically, these sutures will dissolve over time, and can improve with conservative treatments (like gentle massage).  However, it is impossible to make an accurate assessment without seeing you in person. If you are concerned, I suggest that you follow up in person with your plastic surgeon. Good luck!
