I am a plus size women interested in getting a tummy tuck done two kids later. I am 256 lb and I am not unrealistic about the outcomes I just want to look the best me minus my belly. I know for best results exercise and and healthy diet working on it at my low weight of 140-160 I still had that belly. Thanks in advance.
Answer: Tummy tuck vs. Liposuction To determine whether you are best going to be treated with liposuction or tummy tuck you need an examination.Abdominoplasty treats the skin excess and muscle weakness of the abdomen, as well as any fat that is between the belly button and the pubic hairline. Liposuction treats only fat. It can be used to thin out the abdomen, but the skin must be in good condition with no excess, and there should not be muscle weakness. I do not like to combine abdominoplasty with liposuction because of the added risks of fluid collection under the skin, and wound healing problems as well as a significant increase in the risk of blood clots in the legs and lungs (VTE).

Answer: Tummy Tuck - Finding A Surgeon? Thank you for your question. Finding the proper surgeon is critical to the success of your tummy tuck. You need to find a surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery who specializes in body contouring procedures. The ASPS website will provide a list of properly trained surgeons in your area. You should go on several consultations and see who you like best. Ask to see a lot of before and after pictures of their work. Hope this helps.

Answer: Body contouring in overweight patients can certainly be done BUT you must be at a weight that you can maintain easily and not have major weight fluctuations in the future. Then you have to accept the risks for more complications, a 3 to 4 fold increase, depending on your BMI. Finally, the results are not going to be perfect and you will need revisions to further improve your results. If this applies to you, you should have no problem finding a surgeon in your area.

Answer: Tummy Tuck on "plus size" women? The issue is whether the thickness of fatty tissue is too great to safely perform a tummy tuck...undermining the skin up to the ribcage if the fatty layer is too thick can lead to significant healing problems, and of course a tummy tuck does not remove fat that is intraperitoneal or what is called visceral fat. Your result, assuming you came through it safely, would be a very large tummy with less overhang. A panniculectomy, which simply cuts off the overhanging skin and fat, has no effect on the tummy as a whole, and again will not give you a good result but still runs the risk of healing issues. You could undergo aggressive liposuction of your tummy at one stage, and then work on further weight loss for several months, at which point you might be a candidate for a tummy tuck and actually achieve a flatter tummy.
