Why did cysts develop after a hair transplant?

What would be the cause of cysts in the recipient area post hair transplant? Is this common?

Cysts or ingrown hairs can occur on the recipient area after surgery.  It is not common but it is not rare either.  If there are issues, it is always good to follow up with your doctor.

This can happen and it can be normal however you should get a follow up. A few, and small, are not a big deal.  Many and/or large ones could be more concerning and should be evaluated.

These are formed as a result of spicules of hair that are left after the hair grafts shed. These spicules of hair are encapsulated by the body as cysts which are then expelled through the skin.
