Can permanent threads for a facelift or neck lift be removed or adjusted? (Photos)

This represents a further "evolution" in a bad solution for the aging neck; it combines absorbable PGLA cones with permanent polypropyelene suture. I classify this in the "shortcut across the canyon" file. My first recommendation would be: never have this done. The corollary to this is that you will rarely see an experienced, busy Facial Plastic Surgeon with a busy facelift/necklift practice performing this procedure. The 2nd would be that the polypropylene component (fairly nonreactive) can be removed with an open procedure, when you are ready for a facelift/necklift, but it would be more complicated short of this approach without more extended access.

I have some experience of these devices. They are very fine and almost impossible to find once they're placed. Even if you can find them, extensive surgical dissection is the only way to remove them if possible, and they would need be to cut into pieces and pulledout. They cannot be reinserted or recycled.

They are a good device, but not a great device for these exact reasons.

If you get recurrent problems with hotness and redness like the thread is infected , the only option is to have it removed which, as I say it's quite a surgical procedure.
