Invisalign treatment was finished with composite bonding. Now when brushing my teeth, my gums bleed and ache. Is this normal?

I had Invisaligners and the treatment was finished with composite bonding (assume this is the same as dental bonding) The bonding was added over 3 months ago. Now when brushing my teeth, by gums bleeds and have annoying ache, and sometimes throbbing sensation in my gums. I have been back and forth to my practice but it is still ongoing - surely this is not normal?

Hello!
You are right, it is not normal to have bleeding gums if you are flossing and brushing properly. There are 3 possible reasons: 1. You may have occlusal or bite interferences. 2. The edges of the bonding may not be smooth so bacteria is accumulating under the irregular edges. 3. You may not be flossing and brushing sufficiently. 1 minute salt water rinses 2-3 times per day and water floss may help. All the best to you! Dr Ahn
