Laser Hair Removal patch test. Bad reaction? (Photo)

Question

Normally I don't get many spots on the cheeks, the outbreaks tend to be higher up on my forehead or upper cheeks. A day or two after the test it was a little red but nothing too bad. It then faded until about 5 days later it started coming up like this. It's not sore or itchy. I've not been in the sun, followed the advice given. I did shave over it a few times. Should I continue with treatment or is this a sign that I may scar? Thanks for the help. Robyn

This is not a normal reaction.  It doesn't appear to be a burn but it is hard to say.  Most likely an infection of the hair follicle. I would ask the doc who did the procedure as to what to do. It could be a reaction to something put topically on the area when they did the procedure.

You should go back to the clinic which performed the laser treatment.  It's not possible to say for sure without seeing you in person, but there may be some folliculitis or inflammation/minor infection of the hair folllicles.  A prescription for a topical antibiotic might be helpful or perhaps an oral antibiotic if it were to worsen.  I would definitely go back to the clinic to be evaluated in person.
