I've scheduled my breast implant and lift surgery date. But I'm worried the size I picked is to big. I'm 5'6 and 130lbs. I wear a size 36C bra now. I'm hoping to achieve a large D with the lift and implants. I chose 500cc. I'm worrying that is going to be too much. If I add 500cc to my already 36C breast, what cup size approximately will I be?

Answer: 500 cc implant size is large and is likely to be too large if you already have a full C and desire a full D cup. Your breasts are already quite large. You look like you are a C cup or even a D cup. 500 cc implants are likely too large for you. That size would make you a DD or DDD. Probably a 300 cc size would be more appropriate. But it also depends on how much breast tissue the surgeon removes when performing the lift. Incidentally, are you sure you need a lift? If you have a lift be sure it is a vertical method, which produces a much better lift effect, nipple position, and more limited scars than the old inverted-T "anchor" scar method.

Answer: Avoid large implants At size 36, each 200 cc of implant corresponds to 1 cup size change. 500 cc implants would take you up 2 1/2 cup sizes to a size F. Also, 500 cc implants weigh over 1 lb each and will descend inferiorly and laterally. You appear to have enough volume and I would not recommend implants but a lift. The technique I recommend is The Bellesoma Method. This will reshape your breast tissue creating upper pole fullness without implants, elevate them higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided, nipple sensation and the ability to breast feed are maintained. At the same time or later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Implants are not lifetime devices. Fat transfers are permanent and incorporated into the body.Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.
