I think Invisalign or braces would work but you certainly need many more than 10 aligners to get an adequate result. I would also recommend a fixed bonded retainer when the teeth are aligned.

No it is not normal. Buttons do occasionally fall off but it is a  rare occurance. Visit your dentist and make sure the buttons are replaced.

If you only had them off your teeth for only one month or so, you might still be able to go back. If you wait much longer than that chances are the trays will stop fitting all together. You should see your dentist before doing so just to make sure you are not moving your teeth in the wrong direction

I would definitely not force an aligner that does not fit because you can cause more harm than good.  Instead of forcing #24 it is better to go back to the aligner the fits the best.  The only challenging part in your case is that your best fitting set may already be in the trash....
