Indentations / scarring from CO2 permanent? (photos)

Question

I had three laser treatments on a small mole excision scar. The first two treatments were uneventful and gave small improvement. The third treatment was much more intense, took much longer to heal and I am still left with indents. I was told this would “fill in” over the next 6 months but I am doubtful. Anything I can do or it this permanent?

I am sorry that this has happened. It raises two issues that I have addressed many times over the years in my various Realself responses and are well-known to my regular followers and might be helpful for other readers of this answer to keep in mind. For one thing, Scalpel Sculpting works well for removing moles--whether flat or elevated--without the need for deep cutting (which may lead to stretch scars) and require the placement of stitches (which may lead to the development of tram track stitch marks). Secondly,  I have be cautioning my regular followers for years that despite the "bells and whistles" appeal of ablative laser treatments, they are very much alike to old-style dermabrasion in so far as the prolonged post-treatment downtime it typically engenders and in their risks for subsequent scar development and dyspigmentation problems, 
As to the current issue, simple subcision, which I have been performing since 1995, has a several decades' long track record for safety and efficacy for elevating and smoothing all kinds of indented scars in all skin types. You would be wise to consult with an experienced, board certified cosmetic dermatologist. The sooner a scar is treated properly, the greater the likelihood for a more gratifying outcome Hope this helps.
