How far in advance should I stop my medications before having CO2 laser and Matrix Profound?

Question

CO2 fractional laser and Matrix Profound are booked for my face. I know to stop Lexapro but not sure how far in advance. I'm wondering about Mucinex and Equate PM, calcium citrate and multi-vitamin. If stopping is needed, can they be started again immediately afterwards?

For CO₂ laser and Matrix/Profound RF microneedling, you don’t usually need to stop everyday meds like cold medicines or multivitamins, but you do need to pause things that can affect bleeding, irritation, or skin healing for a short period before treatment. Here’s the practical guidance most dermatologists follow:
What to stop before both CO₂ laser and RF microneedling:• Blood thinners and NSAIDs (Aspirin, ibuprofen/Mucinex containing NSAIDs) and supplements that thin blood (fish oil, vitamin E, garlic, ginkgo) about 5–14 days before to reduce bruising and bleeding risk.• Retinoids (Retin-A, tretinoin, retinol) and exfoliating acids at least 3–7 days before to decrease irritation and sensitivity.• Alcohol is often avoided 48–72 hours before to reduce bruising and swelling.
What generally doesn’t need to be stopped:• Most multivitamins, vitamin D, calcium, and plain Mucinex or PM meds don’t typically interfere with laser or RF healing and can usually be continued. Let the dermatologist know everything you’re taking, but they don’t normally require stopping those.Lexapro also doesn't usually need to be stopped - I would confirm with your provider about that medication specifically.
Restarting after treatment:Once your skin begins to heal (typically a few days after RF and several days to weeks after CO₂ depending on intensity), you can usually resume normal medications and vitamins unless otherwise instructed. Your provider will give specific timing based on your treatments and skin response.
