Rash/allergic reaction to glue? (Photo)

Thank you for your question and photo.  Patients can have a reaction to either skin glue or the adhesive that is placed on the skin to make steri-strips stick longer.  Best advice is to see your surgeon so they can evaluate you and make sure to get all of the agent off your skin if you are having a reaction.  It generally goes away but can be a nuisance for some time. 

Of course your surgeon must see this and advise you.  Assuming there is no infection I have seen this with Dermablend tape as it does not breathe well.  Silicone tape is more oxygen permeable but even so can sometimes trap bacteria and cause superficial irritation. For now do not reapply anything until you are seen.

It is difficult to tell from your description and picture exactly what is happening. The best thing for you to do would be to see your plastic surgeon who can examine you and decide what is best. He or she should be made aware that you are having concerns as well. Good luck to you.
