What might be the cause of this patch of irritated red skin near the crown? (Photos)

Just below the crown I have an area of red, inflamed scalp. I have no burning or itching but perhaps a bit more sensitivity in the zone when touched. I have been diagnosed and suffering SD for many years. Could it be just SD or something else like folliculitis? My scalp has been like that for a couple weeks now.
