Could Isotretinoin help decrease my sweating problem?

Isotretinoin is FDA approved for the treatment of severe cystic acne.  It is an expensive medication.  It is not approved for hyperhidrosis.  It targets the oil glands of the skin.  I have never heard of it having an effect on the sweat glands before.  When a patient is taking isotretinoin, their skin does dry out all over the body, so the hands would be drier, but from lack of oil.The small dose you are suggesting is a safe dose to take chronically.  The problem would arise asking for insurance to cover the treatment, because I'm guessing that they wouldn't.   So, the bottomline would be are you willing to be your own test subject, and willing to pay the costs of the medicine, and the IPLEDGE required tests that go with the prescription?  If so, they your next step would be to discuss it with a Board Certified Dermatologist near you. Iontophoresis tends to be the most viable treatment option for palmar hyperhidrosis.
