One option might be to have laser hair removal that would prevent any future hairs from becoming ingrown and irritated, but please consult with your board certified dermatologist with experience in many different types of lasers before you make any decisions. Dermatologists are trained in all diseases and conditions of the skin, so may have other treatments for you to consider. Sometimes scars can be injected with dilute Kenalog to reduce the irritation and size of them and improve them cosmetically, so perhaps laser isn't your first and only option.
