Thank you for your question! By using Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar two weeks before a procedure, you can precondition and pretreat your skin to clear out old damaged collagen and elastin (from aging and sun exposure) so that your procedure can be even more effective. After the procedure, this product can help optimize healing and decrease downtime by reducing the appearance of redness, decrease inflammation and promote healing with new collagen and elastin production.
Alastin's Regenerating Skin Nectar was developed by a plastic surgeon who specialized in wound care. He was attempting to develop a product that efficiently cleaned a skin wound. This is because a clean wound bed heals much quicker than one that is left alone. Alastin Regenerating Skin Nectar works in two ways.First, it gets rid of the broken collagen and elastin [debris or dirt] that is created in the skin from a host of factors from genetic, hormones, smoking, drugs, stress or UV exposure. It then also clears out any debris that is created by the procedure. How? Alastin Regenerating Nectar's ingredients are able to penetrate the skin and stimulates the body's ability to clean out all of this debris. I actually call the product FEMA after the Federal Emergency Management Agency. I tell my patients "when a hurricane comes through a town and leaves a mess, do we just rebuild homes and retail buildings on top of this debris? No, FEMA comes along and gets rid of all of that debris."Once the broken down collagen and elastin are removed, the skin has room for the cells that manufacture collagen to stretch out and start making collagen again. The nice added bonus was that they discovered it also allowed cells that form elastin to work too. So, elasticity is restored as well. For best results the product should be used for at least 2-weeks before a procedure to "prep" the skin and then it should be continued throughout the procedure to ensure that "clean up" occurs continually until full healing is established. When this process is followed, the duration of any downtime from the procedure is lessened, and the results are much better than if Regenerating Nectar had not been used. A final note, there may be other collagen stimulating products on the market, but non stimulate the production of elastin... probably why they called the product like Alastin...
