Sofwave vs. Ultherapy for loose neck skin - Which is better?

Ultherapy offers 3 treatment depths for tightening while Sofwave uses a fixed depth for optimal results. Sofwave can also be used to treat the upper eye lids and has a built-in cooling mechanism to cool and protect the surface of the skin.

Thanks for your question. We performed Ultherapy for many years, from 2013 to 2023, at which time we replaced it with Sofwave. We are seeing substantially more smoothing and tightening with Sofwave than we saw previously with Ultherapy, and Sofwave is much less painful which is nice. It used to be thought that the heat had to be delivered deeper, to the 'SMAS layer' in order to tighten, but Sofwave has clearly proved that wrong. It has multiple FDA clearances for lifting, even though the energy goes to the 1.5 mm depth alone. This means that studies were submitted and approved by the FDA showing the treatment was both safe and effective for these lifting indications.

Sofwave is a similar device to ulthera in that ultrasound waves are used to create skin heating with collagen and elastin improvement. Sofwaves if much more comfortable then Ultherapy as there is skin cooling and the ultrasound focus is within the skin. More skin area is treated with Sofwave and i believe the results are better.
