Smart Lipo done twice on my abdomen area, when can I see final results?

Hi! Depending on when you had your last surgery it could take up to six months to see final results. You have to remember this procedure is not weight loss but body contouring. Once fat cells are removed they will not grow back or relocate within your body; however remaining fat cells can expand and cause fullness with weight gain. It's very important to partner with your pysician and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Eat well, drink plenty of water and exercise!  Also it can take several months for all swelling to subside. Regardless of the number of operations you have, you still have to give the skin enough time to heal and re-drape in order to see the final results. This includes the temporary swelling that masks the results and may last up to four months. How long did you wait in between surgeries? The natural tendency is to try to go back and maximize the result right away but it is important to wait enough time in between. The bottom line is that the amount of fat removal will determine the result from a volume reduction point of view and the skin re-draping will determine the quality of how well it looks afterwards. The fat cells that are removed are gone forever but the fat that remains still can expand so it is important to maintain a healthy diet and exercise regimen.

It will take a few months to see the final results of your lipo revision. There is no lipo procedure done by any technology that removes all fat cells or prevents new ones from forming if you gain excess weight after your procedure and those who gain excess weight may experience lumpiness in the areas that were treated.

After Smart Lipo, the final contour evolves and refines over weeks to several months as swelling decreases and the skin tightens. Even though the fat cells removed are gone, a combination of good diet and exercise is still needed to keep the area in its best shape. I recommend contacting your physician to address any concern. it does not matter that you have had a previous smartlipo. it will still take 6 months to get your final result. it is important to realize that fat cells are still left in the area (though there are less) and this means that if you eat in an unhealthy manner and don't exercise, you can get fat in those areas again.david berman md
