I have an entire protocol, informational packet and skin care specialist and cosmetic coordinator that take care of my patients post co2 resurfacing.  It is essential the skin remains moist and you cleanse your face properly post procedure.  I have all my patients use a wound healing mask twice daily as well.  I suggest you speak to your physician or get a second opinion by a laser expert to limit any complications and get the best long term results.  Best, Dr. Emer.

CO2 laser treatments to the face can be done at a variety of settings.  An ablative setting will actually remove layers of skin and requires a longer recovery period.  With this type of treatment, normally the skin would require keeping it moist until the new skin has formed, which can be around a week.  When the treatment is done in a fractionated or fractional method, the skin is not being burned off, but the laser penetrates the skin to produce tightening and can help with textural issues, such as acne scarring.  When this method is done, normally the face does not require keeping it continually moist during the recovery period.
