Brazilian Blowout hair treatment 3 months after facelift?

Question

I had SMAS facelift 3 months ago. My incisions are along the length of the front part of my ears, continuing around behind my ears, across to my hairline, and extending into my scalp about an inch. They are healing normally. I usually get a Brazilian Blowout done on my hair 2-3 times a year, and it’s about time for my next one. Is a Brazilian Blowout OK three months after a facelift? I asked my surgeon, she was not familiar with the treatment, but said I have no limitations. What do you think?

Congratulations on your surgery!  I tell my patients to wait at least six weeks after a facelift to have any chemical hair treatment.  Even after that, some people are a bit more sensitive especially close to the incisions.  Ask your stylist to be careful around the scars and you should be able to have it done without problems.  Good luck!Sincerely,Dr. Michelle Spring

Should be absolutely fine to have a blowout this far from your surgery. The only issue you may have is some sensitivity along your incisions.  Enjoy!

At 3 months, it should be fine to proceed with your Brazilian Blowout. Inform your hairstylist about your recent surgery. Avoid heat on or near incisions or areas of residual numbness to avoid burns. Your skin may be more sensitive to the chemicals and heat, so have your hairstylist use extreme care near your face and ears.

Great Question!At three months post op from a facelift, you can absolutely enjoy a Brazilian blow out. We tell patients to wait at least 6-8 weeks before having any chemical or harsh treatments done near the incisions. Just be sure to share with your stylist to be cautious around those areas as they may be sensitive to heat.Best Wishes!

Thank you for your question. It should be fine to have treatments on your hair 3 months out from a facelift if all of your wounds are healed. The chemicals used in a brazilian blowout are a little harsher than hair color so make sure to check with your surgeon before your hair appointment. Good luck!

You should be comfortable doing the Brazilian blow out as long as all your incisions are closed. Would be very unusual if there were not .
