What is this excess skin near my mouth and how do I get rid of it? (photos)

Hello! I am 31 years old and I have noticed that there is excess skin on the LEFT side of my face that folds and looks funny when I smile or smirk. I do have a pretty flat midface, and I would like to know if getting midface filler or cheek implants will help get rid of the wrinkles? It looks like fat but I am not sure. Would buccal fat removal get rid of this? Or would I need a face lift? Thanks so much!

If the excess skin is only visible with smiling or smirking, there may be no reasonable “treatment” for this now at 31. Your resting face photo may not show these grooves, and we do not recommend treating folds, lines and grooves only present when animating. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

A combination approach would give the most improvement. Deep wrinkles and smile lines can be improved with a combination of Botox and/or fillers for the lines themselves and to build anatomical support with Sculptra for collagen building. Ultherapy is a great skin tightening device, but works best in combination with other treatments like J Plasma, RF treatments, lasers, microneedling/PRP, salt facials, Cosmelan for skin tightening and improve skin tone.
