The answer will vary depending upon the plastic surgeon who performs your BBL. I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks. If they must sit, every 30 minutes or an hour, they should get up and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off. This reduces the chance for fat necrosis. As long as pressure is not placed upon the buttocks or hips, any pillow can be used. After 6 weeks the fat has revascularized, and they will have a very good idea of their final results. Most of my patients take off from work for 7 to 10 days. Anything earlier is probably pushing the limit, but some of my patients have returned to light work after 5 days.Kenneth Hughes, MD, Board Certified Plastic SurgeonLos Angeles, CA
