Do lip implants look as natural as fillers? (photo)

One of the main disadvantages of conventional off-the-shelf, lip fillers is that the lip filler injection can be highly uneven. This can lead to irregular lumps and bumps in the lips which may take months to disappear.  Compared to the irregularities of lip fillers, the Permalip lip implants are symmetric, soft, pliable, silicone implants.  The Permalip lip implants are cylindrical and tapered at both ends. After the lip swelling subsides, the entire lip is smooth and symmetric. Also, the Permalip lip implant are permanent. After doing fat and dermal grafting, ADM, silicone implants, and a multitude of fillers, I approach each patient individually.  Your reasoning is sound, but currently available alloplastic solutions (e.g. Permalip) are associated with a considerable risk profile.  They can look natural, but maybe not if they move, if you get contracture, or if you dislike the insertion scar(s).  One of these days maybe our Food and Drug Administration will get around to approving Aquamid: permanent, soft, beautiful, biocompatible, 97% water, injectable (no scar), and flexible enough to both augment and shape the lips.
