Do lip implants look as natural as fillers? (photo)

Question

I want bigger lips but I don't want it too be too obvious they are not my real lips. I would get fillers except paying hundreds of dollars every refill seems like a waste when I can just get implants. Right now I'm considering lip implants but I'm wondering do they look as natural as fillers?

HI Nicoleyermanos, Thank you for your question about whether Permalip lip implants look as natural as lip fillers. In my opinion, Permalip lip implants look more natural than lip fillers. One of the main disadvantages of conventional off-the-shelf, lip fillers is that the lip filler injection can be highly uneven. This can lead to irregular lumps and bumps in the lips which may take months to disappear.  Compared to the irregularities of lip fillers, the Permalip lip implants are symmetric, soft, pliable, silicone implants.  The Permalip lip implants are cylindrical and tapered at both ends. After the lip swelling subsides, the entire lip is smooth and symmetric. Also, the Permalip lip implant are permanent. The Permalip lip implants will not degrade or dissolve over time.  Permalip lip implant are FDA approved for augmentation.  Depending on your local pricing in San Diego,  Permalip lip implant lip augmentation is equal to about two or three lip filler injections. After doing fat and dermal grafting, ADM, silicone implants, and a multitude of fillers, I approach each patient individually.  Your reasoning is sound, but currently available alloplastic solutions (e.g. Permalip) are associated with a considerable risk profile.  They can look natural, but maybe not if they move, if you get contracture, or if you dislike the insertion scar(s).  One of these days maybe our Food and Drug Administration will get around to approving Aquamid: permanent, soft, beautiful, biocompatible, 97% water, injectable (no scar), and flexible enough to both augment and shape the lips.

Hi, I have performed many lip augmentation procedures using dermal fillers or lip implants for over 30 years. From the photos, your upper lip is small compared to your lower and both lips are a bit thin overall . Following my beauty principles, the upper lip should be approximately 75 % the size of the lower lip for the lips to appear balanced.  The lips can be augmented using a dermal filler or a Permalip implant and as long as the proper aesthetics are applied (as described above) the lips will look naturally fuller and attractive.  Over filled, crooked or lumpy lips no matter the size will not look natural.
Dermal filers and lip implants offer a much more reliable volume for augmentation of the lips than permanent fillers or fat injections which are associated with increased, unwanted, side effects.
