i had permalip implant exactly one month ago - had normal swelling for the first 2 weeks but it is in my mustache area and looks super weird. went to PS last week - he said i was still swollen and we would need to wait few more weeks which i understand but i can that it is too high!?! it's also very hard and doesn't come close to the corners of my mouth - about 3/4"-1" away. also, the right side sticks out. didn't the dr put it in too high? is it better to remove it sooner or wait?
Answer: Permalip lip implant permanent lip augmentation permanent lip filler silicone lip implant plump lips rejuvenate lips Hi Nycbrunette, Thank you for your question regarding whether your Permalip lip implant is too high in the mustache area. Thank you for your history and picture. Based on a single picture and without the luxury of a physical examination or any information about the surgical technique, it is difficult to say if the Permalip lip implant was placed too high. I agree with your plastic surgeon; I would wait. There is no harm in waiting. In regards to your lip shape, you must realize the lip implant is tapered at both ends. Unless your plastic surgeon cut the ends of thePermalip lip implant, the lip implant should extend from one corner of the lip to the other corner of the lip. I would suggest you wait at least 3 to 4 months after the original Permalip lip implant lip augmentation procedure before you consider a lip implant revision or replacement. Good luck! I hope that I have answered your questions regarding the placement of your Permalip lip implant. If you have any further questions regarding Permalip lip implant lip augmentation, please contact my office. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen.

Answer: Permalip Concerns Hello there,Thank you for your question. After 1 month, most of the swelling has diminished. I would wait another 2 months to see where the implant settles but most likely, it won't drop or move too much further as scar tissue begins to form quickly. It should be safe to remove at month 3 and then you can decide if you want to retry or go another route in lip augmentation. Hope this helps. All the best,Carlos Mata, MD, MBA, FACSBoard-Certified Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Permalip Placed too High? Thank you for your question and picture. The swelling can take 4 weeks to completely diminish, however the body will start to form scar tissue around the Permalip implant over the next few months, therefore after the swelling has gone down and the lip implant still looks too high I would advise taken the lip out. It should be discussed about repositioning the implant or having a smaller size. All The Best

Answer: 1 month post Permalip implant and it's in my mustache area? Did the doctor put it too high? Hi, I have performed many lip augmentation procedures using dermal fillers or lip implants for over 30 years. Following my beauty principles, the upper lip should be approximately 75 % the size of the lower lip for the lips to appear balanced. The lips can be augmented using a dermal filler or a Permalip implant for a permanent enhancement. The perma lip implant is placed along the bottom edge of the upper lip and the adjacent upper edge of the lower lip at the farthest portion of the lip away from the vermillion border. The implant can be removed and a new one placed in the position described above. In my humble opinion and experience, dermal filers and lip implants offer far more reliable volume to augment the lips than permanent fillers or fat injections that are also associated with increased, unwanted, side effects. Hope this helps

Answer: Lip implant Hello Swelling does persist for a while upto 3 weeks in lip implants. You are right though that the implant is a bit high, and probably oversized for you. The implant is actually crossing your mouth corner. Its a difficult decision to make. Please wait for 2-3 weeks more, If it doesnt settle, you know what to do Regards Dr Amit Gupta
