Hi! I'm 29 and have crepey skin around my eyes. I would like the skin to be smooth and tight. I also have some sun damage on my face and chest. my main concern is the eyes. I am interested in a customized treatment that will address the eyes, face, neck and chest. I am researching lasers and ultherapy and have done a couple of consultations. Recommendations range from fully ablative CO2 to fractional CO2 to IPL and PRP. I am looking for help identifying what the appropriate treatment.
Answer: CO2 laser to help stimulate collagen and tighten skin Fractional CO2 laser is an excellent tool for skin rejuvenation in our center in Santa Monica. We use the fractional multi-depth ablative approach to help resurface the skin, recontour acne scars, improve incisional plastic surgery scars, and reduce surface irregularities from skin tone to dark pigmentation. Our approach utilizes a multi-depth approach that targets melanocytes in the epidermis and collagen fibroblasts in the dermis. This approach can be combined with a TCA Peel in a process known as a sapphire peel. Fractional laser is excellent for acne scars and contour scars in the skin. Patients are advised to undergo skin protocols with Melarase creams before and after treatment to help reduce pigmentation. Melarase AM, Melarase PM, and Melapads can seriously improve surface sun damage and UV related pigmentation. After the laser, we expect redness for a few weeks as the skin improves. PRP and Hydrafacial enzyme facials can further improve skin quality after fractional co2. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Realself100 Surgeon

Answer: Dark Circles/Eye Bags/Wrinkles -- Fillers Belotero, Volbella; Fraxel/Halo; emeragecosmetics ENLIGHTEN/AERIFY/COSMELAN in office lasers, plasma pen help. with botox. at home peels like cosmelan, enlighten and aerify along with dermarolling (emerageskin roller with anteage MD ampules) should be started now. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles. A surgical option to remove skin and/or fat will such as lower eyelid blepharoplasty with or without fat pad repositioning will be the best long term. There are many things you can do to treat under eye hollows and dark circles without surgery. Non invasive less downtime options such as fillers, lasers, microneedling/PRP, cosmelan peels, and microneedling RF like Fractora or morpheus can all help give some improvement. Accutite can often be used or stronger lasers like erbium or co2 spot treatment can tighten the skin and give very quick improvement in wrinkles and texture. I suggest you get a formal consultation to see what is best for you and your goals. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Laser treatments for crepey skin around eyes Hi! Collagen breakdown starts in our 20's and increases about 1% per year. Smoking, stress, sun exposure, diet, and poor sleep can contribute to collagen damage as well. Fractional laser treatment is the standard treatment for crepey skin around eyes and I would start there. Certainly, platelet rich plasma or platelet rich fibrin can complement laser treatment to improve crepey skin. You can also try a topical retinol eye cream (e.g., RoC Retinol Correxion Eye Cream) that is available over the counter. The skin around the eyes is the thinnest skin on the face and retinol eye creams are safe if you can tolerate them. Mixing the creams with a moisturizer helps prevent irritation or layer it on top of a hydrating serum, such as hyaluronic acid. Hope these suggestions are helpful. Best, Dr. DuPont

Answer: Options for eye area Thanks for your question. You could pursue laser, but CO2 laser can't get too close to the eyes without risking damage to your eyes. Since you are so young, I would recommend RF Microneedling. You can use RF Microneedling to help with sun damage and laxity on the chest, neck and face, and especially in the undereye and upper eyelid areas with good tissue tightening and very low risk. Please see a professional that is skilled in RF microneedling, and plan for a series since it takes a few treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart. Regular microneedling in series can also help, but we get much better results with the addition of Radiofrequency, so look for that type of device. The treatment has less downtime than laser treatments, and can provide very good tissue tightening. IPL is just a broad beamed light that helps improve brown and red superficial pigment from sun damage and small broken capillaries, but doesn't do anything for tightening or collagen stimulation. PRP has variable results but not a lot of hard data on effectiveness, and is very operator skill dependent. Good luck!
