Can Invisalign goal be achieved without IPR?

Question

I was offered invisalign for correction of an overbite and for alignment of lower incisors that required 4 buttons on the top and 1 button on the bottom as well as IPR of all 4 incisors on the top and 3 on the bottom. I would prefer not to shave the teeth and now have been offered Invisalign using the same button placement but no IPR. Can it achieve the same goal without IPR?

IPR basically aids in the movement of your teeth when space is not available.  I do not generally do invisalign in the anterior as I do not like the look of the teeth after treatment has been completed.  I usually do my IPR in the back where there is easier access and the cases turn out much better. It will not stop your Invisalign treatment from working, but it might prolong the case.

IPR basically aids in the movement of your teeth. By removing <0.5mm from a tooth, it can move dramatically faster. Most patients do not and will not ever notice that the IPR has been done, except that it makes it easier to floss. It will not stop your Invisalign treatment from working, but it might prolong the case. Good luck!
