There was a little gum recession on tooth 29, so my dentist did a small filling along the gum line, but the filling came off later, and she did the filling again. 8 months after that, a lump started growing near that tooth, my dentist told me I need a root canal, but she said the tooth’s death is not related to the filling, and I need a crown after root canal. Since the tooth has no other decays or cavities, 1. will a filling be good enough? 2. it died because of the gumline filling?

Hi:Without X-ray and clinical exam its difficult to give you accurate advice. However, its best to have your dentist check the bite on the corwns and do a nerve test on the teeth to make sure there is no nerve damage.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Hi:Sorry to hear about your situation. I normally use Variolink Opaque cement to block out the gray color of teeth when using the emax crowns.Best,Dr. Maddahi
Having a beer following a crown cementation is typically not a problem from an adhesion perspective. The crown should be secure when you leave the office. As long as you did not have any oral sedation for the crown seat this should be ok.
