Will I need someone taking care of me at all times for the first few days?

It is always nice to have someone with you the first postoperative to help you. The following day many women are able to take care of themselves although for sure one should expect some discomfort. If one is taking narcotic pain medication one should understand that one should not be driving. It is also wise to stock up on easy to make meals prior to your surgery if someone is not around to prepare meals for you. Avoid placing items on high shelves. Take care of everyday chores prior to your surgery. It is a time to relax.

Discuss with your surgeon.  However, it sounds like this plan should be Ok--you will likely be able to take care of yourself within a day or two after your operation.  You should not be driving or doing any other dangerous activity if you are taking narcotics for pain, however.

You should contact your surgeon with this question as each surgeon has their own respective post op protocol for their patients. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history.

You should follow your surgeon's instructions, but in general you can be left alone for a while after just two days.

For anesthesia, it is important for someone to be with you for the first 24 hours.  After that, you will be able to manage yourself.  Just have all your usual business taken care of prior to surgery.  Get your groceries done and have food ready.Best Wishes,Nana Mizuguchi

Some factors that go into recovery include your level of pain tolerance and the size of your breast implants. Bigger implants (>350) will cause more discomfort and make it harder for you to be independent. 1.After a breast augmentation, it is recommended
to have someone with you for the first 24 hours. After that period of time it would be acceptable
to be on your own for periods of time during the day. You may be very sore and taking pain pills;
and, therefore, you should not count on cooking any elaborate meals. Mostly, you should be eating things that are
readymade and just essentially getting up to go to the bathroom or eating. It should be perfectly fine to be alone after
the first day. It would most likely be
difficult to chop vegetables or do a lot of cooking until at least about 1 week
post surgery.

Thanks for your question. Yes, you will likely be taking care of yourself even the same day of surgery, and then able to do light care for your kids the next. It's nice to have a little extra help around though for a few days to a week if possible. Best wishes.

Typically, you should be functional by second day following breast augmentation. If you want to make sure to minimize your pain, consider Experal, which is a 4 day numbing medication that your surgeon can use to ensure that you are ok 2nd through the 4th day.
