Is this normal for post op 7 days from laser lipo? How long will it be swollen? What is causing the bruising? (photos)

I had laser Lipo 6 days ago and I got results right away but it’s been pretty painful and bruised. How long will it be swollen? And is this causing the bruising? & Will that color go away and what’s causing it exactly?

Dear Tasteful5942,
I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a liposuction surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively.At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides  you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.

bruising is caused by blood in the tissues which is perfectly normal post lipo and could last a week or two. pain is variable at 1 week but normal.. everyone has uneven areas at 1 week.. swelling is always uneven.. I would encourage you to follow your post op instructions and things will likely improve tremendously

It could take up to a year for all the swelling to go down completely after a liposuction surgery. Bruising and pain are also common expectations after this kind of surgery. This is temporary for now and will slowly subside each day.  You can follow up with your provider about pain management and take the prescribe medications that written for you.

Congratulations
on your recent procedure...The procedure of liposuction is an
"insult" to the soft tissues, resulting in swelling which will initially
totally obscure the operative result. Bruising occurs as there will be disruption of small blood vessels within the operative field. If the vessels are deep, the discoloration may be delayed for a day or two. It should subside within several weeks. The
purpose of a compression garment is to prevent bleeding and to control
swelling. We usually recommend its use for the first 4-6 weeks after the
procedure. 60-80%
of the swelling should subside within the first 6 weeks, with the remainder
slowly subsiding over 6-12 months.

Dear San Antonio,Post Lipo bruising can last up to two weeks after surgery.Swelling starts to go down around two weeks, and progressively improves over the next 6-8 weeks.I advise my patients to wear firm smooth compression garments and walk multiple times daily, to help optimize the results.Best.
