Does breast shape affect candidacy for Breast Reduction?

Breast reduction is best suited for women who wish to decrease the size of their breasts. While there are different techniques used to perform this surgery, I prefer the vertical incision (lollipop pattern) breast reduction technique instead of the anchor scar pattern, which reduces more noticeable scarring than usual. I also use a SAFE liposuction technique to reduce additional fat around the stubborn axilla area and bra line. This way, my patients are achieving beautiful results with minimal incisions which reduces downtime and delivers an overall better breast shape long term.If you are considering breast reduction surgery, you should consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss your options and make sure your surgeon understands your goals. Thank you for your question. Shape is not really a factor. It is possible to reduce breasts of all shapes and sizes. The smaller the breasts, the more difficult it is to get insurance to cover the procedure. I wish you all the best.

Based on your photo, you do not appear to have breast hypertrophy (large heavy pendulous breasts) and breast reduction procedure would not be indicated in your case.

Breast shape usually requires a breast lift and reduction means decrease in volume. The photograph you have provided does not show a need for either a breast lift or reduction.

I'm confused because the photos you send show very little breast tissue. You appear to be more a candidate for breast implants but definitely not a reduction

Based on what I'm seeing in the photo you posted, you would not be a candidate for a reduction. Your breast seems to be a good size for your frame.

A candidate considering reduction must have adequate tissue remaining to reshape the breast after the desired amount of tissue is removed. You want to keep in mind the risks versus benefits of the procedure to make sure it is right for you. Based on your photo a breast reduction for you doesn't appear needed. If you proceeded it would need to be paid out of pocket as your breasts do not appear large enough where the procedure would be covered by insurance. Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Based solely on 1 posted photo you are NOT a excisional breast reduction candidate . If you desire the volume reduced slightly then I recommend liposuction. Best to seek in person or virtual consults. Fees in $6,000 ranges.
