How long does it take for the muscles to realign after muscle repair?

Hi, I had diastis recti repair done. My question is how long for realignment of the muscle tightening heal at the place they are realigned? Does it take time for healing to place where they should before pregnancy?

It takes 6 months or so before the muscle repair is completely healed.  During that time the sutures are holding things in place.

You muscles should be realigned at the surgeon. It does take time to heal before you add the stress to the repair (i.e. pregnancy). You should ideally have 6-8 weeks of healing before you can resume regular exercise activity. #healingaftertummytuck #Diastasis #tummytuck #recovery

The muscles are aligned at the surgery and the healing time is analogous to having a hernia repair which is 6 weeks. You should be able to resume strengthening activities at that point but always check with your own plastic surgeon.

It takes about 6 weeks for the rectus abdominus muscles tightened in a diastasis repair to become strong. We will usually let patients begin to exercise their core at that point and monitor their progress. The healing process is ongoing and it usually takes 6-12 months for complete healing to occur.
