Lifted vein on outer right ankle with stinging?

I am a 24 yr old female that works retail and consists of standing on a near daily basis. I am 6' tall and weigh around 200. I noticed tonight that there was a stinging sensation above my right ankle, I could feel something lifted. It was not very painful, just stinging when lightly brushing over. A few minutes later, it went down. Everything I have looked up has these symptoms, but includes others that I don't have. I don't have varicose veins, my legs are not swollen. It was the one vein.

Ankle veins can get irritated if there is a shoe strap over them or if the shoe is constrictive. They can also get hard like a rope if they form a superficial clot. Otherwise, it does not sound like it is something that is anything to worry about. If it continues to bother you, a vein specialist can examine you and look at it with a Vein Lite to see if it is indeed a vein.

Stinging is not usually a vein related system and it would be unusual for a single vein to dilate for a few minutes and then disappear.  Veins can increase and decrease due to many factors including levels of hydration, heat exposure and physical activity such as straining.  From what you describe, it is difficult to say exactly what was the cause.
